Not-for-profit organizations are key players in society in terms of the instrumental social impact and advocacy initiatives they engage in within the community. The success and perpetual viability of any not-for-profit entity is largely determined by the governance practices upheld within the organization.
Good governance in a Not for Profit organization requires the right mix of board members, sound management practices, accountability and transparency in decision making, sound financial stewardship, compliance, and adherence to applicable laws and regulation.
Observance of governance best practices is critical since Not for Profits organizations do not ascribe ownership to any particular individual(s) raising the potential for mismanagement and wrangles within the leadership. It is therefore impediment that current and future decision-making and implementation processes are well thought out to preserve the resources of the organization.
